System Accreditation
System accreditation examines whether and with what sort of diligence a higher education institution is able to apply independently and in a responsible way a review cycle to continuously improve study programmes.
In order to verify the effectiveness of the quality management system, random samples of some study programmes are reviewed along with a cross-section of individual performance elements of the higher education institution and performance elements referring to particular topics in all of the Bachelor and Master programmes.
A positive result of the accreditation procedure leads to the higher education institution’s accreditation for 6 years (when initial accreditation is sought) and for 8 years (when re-accreditation is sought). All study programmes set up during this period are accredited without external evaluation.
This procedure is primarily used in Germany.
Institutional Audit
Quality relevant structures, processes and allocation functions of a higher education institution are reviewed by means of an Institutional Audit.
Within in the context of an institutional Audit, higher education institutions have the opportunity to obtain a detailed report, which goes beyond the requirements of official external recognition and thus represents a significant help for the further development of a higher education institution’s quality management system.
After a positive accreditation decision FIBAA awards its quality label.
The higher education institution can document its efficiency by means of this quality label. Furthermore, the label proves a higher education institution's recognition and trustworthiness.
